   Do you need help to adapt your home?    19 February, 2018

South Cambs District Council continues to recognise the health and social benefits of enabling our residents to live in a home that meets their needs, especially as those needs change, so we’d like to take the opportunity to remind residents that we have funding available for adaptations and essential repairs. For adaptations, residents should initially contact Cambridgeshire Direct on 0345 0455202  who will, if needed, arrange an Occupational Therapy Assessment.

Cambs Home Improvement Agency formed in 2012 as a partnership between 3 local district councils - customers requiring help with work such as roofing repairs, damp work, replacement windows and doors or new boilers are encouraged to contact the agency for information about what is available.

   Private Sector Leasing Scheme    16 February, 2018

SCDC are promoting a new scheme for private landlords. 

It is called the Private Sector Leasing Scheme operating with the newly formed company name of Shire Homes Lettings Limited.

The purpose of the scheme is to provide good quality, affordable homes within the private rented sector to assist in preventing homelessness.

   Free NHS hearing aid service    20 April, 2016

We have a regular Hearing Help Session in Shelford at The Health Centre, Ashen Green, Shelford, CB22 5FY every 1st Friday of the month from 1.30pm -4pm, where  NHS hearing aid users can drop in any time during those times and receive free replacement batteries and have their hearing aids cleaned and re tubed.  We also offer advice on hearing aid use.

Cemex’s application for 220 houses on the cement factory was passed by the planning committee on June 3rd, by 6 votes to 5.

   Gladman Developments planning application refused    13 May, 2015

The planning application by Gladman Developments, for a development of up to 95 houses on land between Shepreth Road and the A10, has been refused.

This application was discussed at the South Cambs District Council planning committee on 13th May, and the committee voted unanimously to refuse planning permission.
